GLOBAL ALIGNMENT — WEEK THREE: ALIGN GIFTS, GENERATIONS, AND RELATIONSHIPS

4% • THE DAILY FORGE

One hour. Every morning. Room for God.

Beginning November 1 • 6–7 a.m. Eastern

Daily video gathering

You're invited. The first daily video will appear here when it is scheduled. Until then, today's study is ready for you.

“Could ye not watch with me one hour?”
Matthew 26:40 (KJV)

Jesus spoke these words to His disciples in Gethsemane. His call to watch and pray inspires our invitation to spend about an hour in Scripture, prayer, reflection, and response each day.

Why 4%? Four percent of 24 hours is about 58 minutes—rounded to one hour. This is an invitation, not a rule: Matthew 26:40 inspires it, but it isn't a command for a modern daily program.

KEY SCRIPTURE

Audio teaching for this study will be posted soon.

GREEK WORD OF THE DAY

οἰκονόμος

oikonomos

STRONG'S G3623

A steward, household manager; one entrusted with managing another's property. From oikos (house) and nemō (to distribute, manage). Used of faithful and unfaithful stewards in Jesus' parables (Luke 12:42; 16:1–8) and of ministers of God's mysteries (1 Corinthians 4:1–2).

BIBLICAL EXAMPLE

Dorcas (). She was "full of good works and almsdeeds." When she died, the widows showed Peter "the coats and garments which Dorcas made." Her gift of practical service had a clear assignment — clothing widows — and her ministry was so deeply felt that God raised her through Peter, and "many believed in the Lord."

EXPOSITION

“As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ” (, KJV). Peter wrote to believers scattered across Asia Minor who were facing suffering and hostility (1:1; 4:12). In verse 7 he says, "the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer." In light of that urgency, he tells them how to live together: love fervently, show hospitality without grudging, and use their gifts. "As every man hath received the gift." Every believer has received something. There are no giftless members. "Even so minister the same one to another." The gift is given to be used toward others. A gift kept to oneself misses its assignment. "As good stewards of the manifold grace of God." A steward managed a household or property that belonged to someone else. The gift is not ours to own; it is God's grace entrusted to us. "Manifold" means many-colored, varied. God's grace shows up in many forms through many people. Peter then gives two broad categories: speaking and serving. If you speak, speak "as the oracles of God" — with the seriousness of one delivering God's words, not personal opinions dressed up as revelation. If you serve, serve "as of the ability which God giveth" — relying on His strength, not your own. The purpose is clear: "that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ." The goal of every gift is not the promotion of the gifted person but the glory of God. Every gift has an assignment. It is aimed at someone. It is meant to build, heal, teach, serve, or strengthen. Misalignment happens when gifts become platforms for self or are buried out of fear. Alignment happens when gifts are stewarded faithfully in love toward others and for God's glory.

REFLECTION

Who is my gift assigned to? Am I stewarding it for God's glory or for my own?

PRAYER

Father, thank You for the grace You have entrusted to me. Make me a good steward. When I speak, let me speak with the seriousness of Your words. When I serve, let me serve in the strength You supply. Direct my gift to its assignment, and let You be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ. Amen.

CONFESSION

"My gift is a stewardship of God's grace. I use it toward others so that God is glorified."

PROPHETIC APPLICATION

Name your primary gift in one sentence. Then name one person or group it is meant to serve right now. Use it toward them this week in a specific way, without seeking recognition.

DIGGING DEEPER

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE — Stewardship audit. 1. Read the parable of the talents (). 2. Write down the gifts and abilities God has entrusted to you. 3. Beside each, write whether you are investing, neglecting, or misusing it. 4. Choose one to invest more faithfully this month.
