GLOBAL ALIGNMENT — WEEK TWO: ALIGN AS ONE BODY

4% • THE DAILY FORGE

One hour. Every morning. Room for God.

Beginning November 1 • 6–7 a.m. Eastern

Daily video gathering

You're invited. The first daily video will appear here when it is scheduled. Until then, today's study is ready for you.

“Could ye not watch with me one hour?”
Matthew 26:40 (KJV)

Jesus spoke these words to His disciples in Gethsemane. His call to watch and pray inspires our invitation to spend about an hour in Scripture, prayer, reflection, and response each day.

Why 4%? Four percent of 24 hours is about 58 minutes—rounded to one hour. This is an invitation, not a rule: Matthew 26:40 inspires it, but it isn't a command for a modern daily program.

KEY SCRIPTURE

Audio teaching for this study will be posted soon.

GREEK WORD OF THE DAY

τιμή

timē

STRONG'S G5092

Honor, value, esteem, price. The sense of assigning worth. In 1 Corinthians 12:23–24 Paul speaks of giving "more abundant honour" (timēn perissoteran) to members that seem less honorable.

BIBLICAL EXAMPLE

David and the two hundred who stayed by the stuff (). After defeating the Amalekites, some of David's men did not want to share the spoil with those too exhausted to fight. David refused: "as his part is that goeth down to the battle, so shall his part be that tarrieth by the stuff: they shall part alike." He made it a statute in Israel.

EXPOSITION

“Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour... But God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked: That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another” (, KJV). Paul now turns the value system of Corinth upside down. The parts that "seem to be more feeble" are "necessary." The word "seem" matters. Weakness is often a matter of appearance, not of true value. In the human body, some of the least visible organs are the most essential. No one admires their liver, yet no one lives without it. "Upon these we bestow more abundant honour." Paul uses the example of how we clothe the body. We give special care and covering to parts we consider less presentable. In the same way, God "tempered the body together" — mixed, blended, composed it — giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it. Why? "That there should be no schism in the body." Division often grows where honor is unevenly distributed. When only visible gifts are celebrated, hidden servants feel invisible, and prominent members grow proud. God's remedy is intentional honor for the overlooked. In Corinth this was not theory. At the Lord's Supper, wealthier members ate while poorer members went hungry (11:21–22). Paul said they despised the church of God and shamed those who had nothing. The body was being divided by who was seen and who was ignored. Today, the hidden parts might be intercessors, children's workers, cleaners, sound technicians, those who give quietly, the elderly who pray, the widow who serves. They may not appear on platforms, but the body cannot live without them. Honor is a Kingdom practice. It is not flattery; it is recognizing what God values. When we honor the unseen, we align with the way God Himself composed the body. And we protect the body from the quiet schisms that begin when people feel unnecessary.

REFLECTION

Which members of the body do I overlook because their work is unseen?

PRAYER

Father, You composed the body and gave honor to the parts that lacked it. Forgive me for valuing what is visible above what is necessary. Open my eyes to the hidden servants among us. Help me to honor them as You do, and to guard Your body from division. In Jesus' name, amen.

CONFESSION

"I honor the parts I do not see, for God has made them necessary."

PROPHETIC APPLICATION

Honor one hidden servant this week in a tangible way — a note, a gift, a public word of thanks, or practical help. Be specific about what they do and why it matters.

DIGGING DEEPER

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE — Seeing the unseen. 1. List the ministries in your church or network that happen behind the scenes. 2. Beside each, write the name of someone who serves there. 3. Pray for each by name. 4. Ask God to give you His eyes for value that others overlook.
