— "...to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit." Logos gnoseos: an utterance of knowledge. The controlling word is logos — a word, a portion. God does not transfer omniscience. He releases a fragment, on purpose, for a purpose. What is done with that fragment is the entire test of the vessel.

Knowledge — a knowing of facts or realities. In this manifestation, it is a fragment of divine knowing released to a person: not everything God knows, but a specific piece He chooses to disclose for a redemptive purpose.

BIBLICAL EXAMPLE

Jesus and the woman of Samaria () — supernatural knowledge spoken privately, gently, and redemptively. He revealed her history only far enough to reveal her need, and only after He had dignified her with a request. She left healed, not humiliated.

EXPOSITION

A word of knowledge is Spirit-given information concerning a fact, condition, person, event, or circumstance that could not be known through ordinary means. Distinguish it carefully. It is not research. It is not observation — reading body language, noticing a wedding ring absent from a finger, hearing a tremor in a voice. It is not suspicion. It is not gossip recycled as revelation, which is a grievous sin dressed in spiritual clothing. It is not psychological guessing or the practiced art of vague statements that could apply to anyone. It is not natural deduction from familiarity — knowing a person''s history because you have known them for years is not a manifestation of the Spirit. Jesus at the well in is the pattern text, and the pattern is redemptive. He says, "Go, call thy husband, and come hither." She answers, "I have no husband." He responds, "Thou hast well said... for thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband." Read what He does not do. He does not announce her history to the village. He does not use the knowledge to shame her, to prove His identity to bystanders, or to establish authority over her. He speaks it to her, privately, in a conversation He began by asking her for a drink — a request that dignified her before He ever revealed anything. And read the sequence. He uncovered her thirst before He uncovered her history. The knowledge served the conversation; the conversation served her salvation. Within moments she is asking about worship, He is revealing Himself as Messiah, and she is running to the city — a city she had been avoiding, which is why she drew water at noon. Revelation handled redemptively turned a woman hiding from her community into the first evangelist to it. So a word of knowledge may be given to confirm what God has already spoken, to open the door to healing, to expose danger, to protect the vulnerable, to direct prayer with precision, to reveal a hidden condition that needs addressing, to strengthen faith, or to advance God''s purpose in a moment. Now the warning, and it must be direct. Supernatural knowledge in immature hands damages people. Do not use private information to impress. Do not use it to manipulate a decision. Do not use it to embarrass someone publicly. Do not use it to control, to gain access, to secure money, or to prove spiritual importance. A believer who uses revelation to build a reputation has already begun trading in something holy. Scripture also shows the severity of this manifestation. Peter knew what Ananias and Sapphira had done (). Elisha knew what Gehazi had done and where he had gone (). In both cases, revelation exposed hidden deceit — but notice that in both cases the person exposed was inside the covenant community and in a position of trust, and the exposure came through a mature vessel under divine instruction, not through an enthusiastic novice with an impression. Here is the governing principle: knowledge without love and wisdom wounds. Paul says it plainly two chapters later — though I understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and have not charity, I am nothing. Nothing. Not less effective. Nothing. So when God shows you something, ask three questions before you speak. Why did He show me? Am I meant to speak this, or to pray it? If I speak it, to whom, when, and in what words? Many things God reveals are given for intercession, not announcement. The maturity of a vessel is measured as much by what they carry in silence as by what they release in speech.

REFLECTION

What damage can occur when supernatural knowledge is handled without wisdom, love, or restraint? Have you witnessed it?

PRAYER

Father, purify my motives. If You reveal something hidden, let it be handled according to the character of Christ — privately where privacy protects, gently where gentleness heals, and silently where silence is the assignment. Deliver me from using revelation to impress, to control, or to prove myself. Teach me to carry what You show me the way Jesus carried it. In His name, Amen.

PROPHETIC APPLICATION

Treat every revelation as a trust. Before speaking anything God shows you about a person, ask whether it was given for intercession or for utterance — and default to prayer when you are unsure.

DIGGING DEEPER

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE — Ask the Holy Spirit to search your motives regarding revelation. Then take one thing you believe God has shown you about another person and deliberately commit it to intercession only for seven days. Pray it rather than speaking it, and watch what God does without your announcement. REFLECTION QUESTIONS 1. Have you ever spoken something God gave you for prayer? 2. Where has curiosity masqueraded as spiritual discernment in your life? 3. If God never allowed you to tell anyone what He shows you, would you still want to see?
