KINGDOM CONSTRUCTION — PHASE TWO: THE FOUNDATION — WHAT MUST BE ESTABLISHED FIRST?KEY SCRIPTURE
Audio teaching for this study will be posted soon.
GREEK WORD OF THE DAY
διδαχή
didachē
STRONG'S G1322
Teaching, doctrine — both the act of teaching and the content taught. In Acts 2:42 the apostles' didachē is listed first among the four pillars the new church continued steadfastly in.
BIBLICAL EXAMPLE
The Bereans () “received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” They were open and rigorous at the same time. Contrast the Corinthians, who were rich in gifts but had to be told, “I could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal” (), and the Ephesian elders whom Paul warned that “grievous wolves” would enter, “speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them” ().
EXPOSITION
REFLECTION
Can I explain what I believe from Scripture, or do I mostly repeat what I have heard?
PRAYER
Father, give me doctrine that can bear weight. Deliver me from believing things about You that are not true and from repeating what I have never examined. Teach me Your word until it becomes structure in me. Let me love truth enough to be corrected by it and to hold it without arrogance. In Jesus' name, amen.
CONFESSION
"Fire without framework burns the house down; outpouring must be followed by teaching."
PROPHETIC APPLICATION
DIGGING DEEPER
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE — Build one wall. 1. Pick one doctrine you have never studied for yourself. 2. Read at least five passages on it, in context. 3. Write a paragraph in your own words. 4.
