GLOBAL ALIGNMENT — WEEK FOUR: ALIGN BEYOND OUR FAMILIAR WALLS

4% • THE DAILY FORGE

One hour. Every morning. Room for God.

Beginning November 1 • 6–7 a.m. Eastern

Daily video gathering

You're invited. The first daily video will appear here when it is scheduled. Until then, today's study is ready for you.

“Could ye not watch with me one hour?”
Matthew 26:40 (KJV)

Jesus spoke these words to His disciples in Gethsemane. His call to watch and pray inspires our invitation to spend about an hour in Scripture, prayer, reflection, and response each day.

Why 4%? Four percent of 24 hours is about 58 minutes—rounded to one hour. This is an invitation, not a rule: Matthew 26:40 inspires it, but it isn't a command for a modern daily program.

KEY SCRIPTURE

Audio teaching for this study will be posted soon.

GREEK WORD OF THE DAY

μάρτυς

martys

STRONG'S G3144

A witness; one who testifies to what he has seen or knows. Used in legal settings and of those who testify to Christ. Because many early witnesses sealed their testimony with their lives, the word later gave us the English "martyr."

BIBLICAL EXAMPLE

Philip in Samaria (). Scattered by persecution, Philip "went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them." Many believed, there was great joy in the city, and Peter and John came and prayed for them to receive the Holy Ghost. The border between Jew and Samaritan was crossed by the gospel and confirmed by the Spirit.

EXPOSITION

“But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth” (, KJV). Week Four moves beyond our familiar walls. We begin where the book of Acts begins. Just before this verse, the disciples asked, "Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?" (1:6). Their question was sincere, but their vision was limited — focused on timing and on Israel's national restoration. Jesus did not rebuke their hope, but He redirected their focus: "It is not for you to know the times or the seasons" (1:7). Then He gave them a promise and a commission. The promise: "ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you." The Spirit's power is not given primarily for personal display. It is given for witness. The commission: "ye shall be witnesses unto me." A witness testifies to what he has seen and heard. The focus is "unto me" — Christ Himself. Then the geography: Jerusalem, Judaea, Samaria, and the uttermost part of the earth. This verse is often seen as an outline of Acts. Chapters 1–7 happen largely in Jerusalem; chapter 8 moves to Judea and Samaria; from chapter 9 onward the gospel moves toward the Gentile world, ending with Paul in Rome. Notice Samaria. For Jewish believers, Samaria was not just a location but a relational barrier. Jews and Samaritans had centuries of hostility (). The Spirit's mission required crossing ethnic, religious, and emotional borders, not only geographic ones. Also notice that the church did not move beyond Jerusalem quickly. It took persecution to scatter them (8:1, 4). Sometimes God has to interrupt our comfort to fulfill His commission. Global alignment means our vision must be as wide as Christ's commission. Where is your Jerusalem, your Judaea, your Samaria, and your uttermost part? Who is the person or group you would rather not reach? The Spirit sends beyond our borders.

REFLECTION

Where is my "Samaria" — the person or group I would rather not reach with the gospel?

PRAYER

Holy Spirit, come upon me with power to be a witness to Jesus. Enlarge my vision beyond my comfort. Give me love for my Samaria and burden for the uttermost part of the earth. Let my life testify to Christ wherever You send me. In Jesus' name, amen.

CONFESSION

"I have received power to be a witness. The Spirit sends me beyond my borders."

PROPHETIC APPLICATION

Write your personal map: name your Jerusalem, Judaea, Samaria, and uttermost part. Pray over each, and take one step this week toward the place or people you have avoided.

DIGGING DEEPER

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE — Mapping the witness. 1. Read and . 2. Draw four circles labeled Jerusalem, Judaea, Samaria, and Uttermost. 3. Write names, communities, or nations in each. 4. Ask the Holy Spirit for power to witness in the circle you find hardest.
