GLOBAL ALIGNMENT — WEEK THREE: ALIGN GIFTS, GENERATIONS, AND RELATIONSHIPS

4% • THE DAILY FORGE

One hour. Every morning. Room for God.

Beginning November 1 • 6–7 a.m. Eastern

Daily video gathering

You're invited. The first daily video will appear here when it is scheduled. Until then, today's study is ready for you.

“Could ye not watch with me one hour?”
Matthew 26:40 (KJV)

Jesus spoke these words to His disciples in Gethsemane. His call to watch and pray inspires our invitation to spend about an hour in Scripture, prayer, reflection, and response each day.

Why 4%? Four percent of 24 hours is about 58 minutes—rounded to one hour. This is an invitation, not a rule: Matthew 26:40 inspires it, but it isn't a command for a modern daily program.

KEY SCRIPTURE

Audio teaching for this study will be posted soon.

GREEK WORD OF THE DAY

ἀκριβῶς

akribōs

STRONG'S G199

Accurately, exactly, carefully, diligently. Acts 18:25 says Apollos taught "diligently" (akribōs); verse 26 uses the comparative akribesteron — Priscilla and Aquila explained the way of God "more accurately."

BIBLICAL EXAMPLE

Jethro and Moses (). Jethro, a Midianite priest and Moses' father-in-law, watched Moses judge the people from morning to evening and said, "The thing that thou doest is not good." Moses, the man who spoke with God, "hearkened to the voice of his father in law, and did all that he had said." God sent needed correction through a relationship.

EXPOSITION

“And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus. This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John. And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly” (, KJV). Apollos was impressive. He came from Alexandria, a great center of learning. He was eloquent, "mighty in the scriptures," instructed in the way of the Lord, fervent in spirit, diligent, and bold. Yet there was a gap: he knew "only the baptism of John." Aquila and Priscilla were tentmakers who had worked with Paul in Corinth (18:1–3) and had come with him to Ephesus (18:18–19). They listened to Apollos in the synagogue and discerned both his gift and his gap. What they did next is a model of Kingdom relationship. They did not publicly correct or dismiss him. "They took him unto them" — likely into their home — "and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly." The word "more perfectly" means more accurately, more exactly. They did not deny what he had; they completed what he lacked. Apollos, for his part, received it. A lesser man might have been offended that tentmakers were instructing an eloquent scholar. But he was teachable. The result: when he went to Achaia, the believers there wrote to welcome him, and "he mightily convinced the Jews... shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ" (18:27–28). Divine connections require discernment on both sides. Priscilla and Aquila needed discernment to see what was right and what was missing, and wisdom to address it privately and humbly. Apollos needed discernment to recognize that God was sending help through unexpected people. Not every connection is divine, and not every divine connection looks impressive. Some come as correction. Some come through people with less visibility than you. Ask God for eyes to recognize the people He sends, and the humility to be completed by them — or the wisdom to complete others without crushing them.

REFLECTION

Am I teachable when God sends correction through unexpected people? Do I correct others privately and humbly?

PRAYER

Lord, give me discernment to recognize the connections You send. Keep me teachable like Apollos, and gracious like Priscilla and Aquila. Deliver me from pride that rejects correction and from harshness that wounds others. Complete what is lacking in me, and use me to strengthen others. In Jesus' name, amen.

CONFESSION

"I recognize divine connections. I receive correction with humility and give it with love."

PROPHETIC APPLICATION

Ask God to show you one relationship He has placed in your life for completion or correction. If you have been resisting their input, humble yourself and receive it. If you see a gap in someone else, pray first, then speak privately and gently.

DIGGING DEEPER

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE — Discerning connections. 1. Read and note every relationship. 2. List people God has used to "complete" your understanding. 3. List anyone you may be meant to help "more perfectly." 4. Pray for humility and wisdom in both directions.
