GLOBAL ALIGNMENT — WEEK ONE: ALIGN WITH THE HEAD

4% • THE DAILY FORGE

One hour. Every morning. Room for God.

Beginning November 1 • 6–7 a.m. Eastern

Daily video gathering

You're invited. The first daily video will appear here when it is scheduled. Until then, today's study is ready for you.

“Could ye not watch with me one hour?”
Matthew 26:40 (KJV)

Jesus spoke these words to His disciples in Gethsemane. His call to watch and pray inspires our invitation to spend about an hour in Scripture, prayer, reflection, and response each day.

Why 4%? Four percent of 24 hours is about 58 minutes—rounded to one hour. This is an invitation, not a rule: Matthew 26:40 inspires it, but it isn't a command for a modern daily program.

KEY SCRIPTURE

Audio teaching for this study will be posted soon.

GREEK WORD OF THE DAY

εἷς

heis

STRONG'S G1520

One. The ordinary Greek numeral, used here with deliberate repetition (with its feminine and neuter forms mia and hen) to stress singularity and unity: one body, one Spirit, one hope, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God.

BIBLICAL EXAMPLE

The twelve tribes at Sinai and in the wilderness camp (). Each tribe had its own banner and its own position, yet all were arranged around one tabernacle, the dwelling place of one God. Diversity of tribe did not mean multiplicity of kings. When Israel later divided into two kingdoms under Rehoboam and Jeroboam (), the split produced rival altars and rival worship. Unity under one King kept the camp ordered; division multiplied centers.

EXPOSITION

“There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all” (, KJV). Paul spends the first three chapters of Ephesians describing what God has done: chosen, redeemed, raised, and seated us with Christ; broken down the wall between Jew and Gentile; made one new man. Chapter four turns with the word "therefore." Because of all that, walk worthy (4:1). And the first mark of a worthy walk is that we "endeavour to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace" (4:3). Notice: we do not create this unity. We keep it. The unity already exists because of what God has done. Our task is to guard it, to be diligent — the word carries urgency and effort — not to manufacture it. Then Paul gives seven "ones." One body. One Spirit. One hope. One Lord. One faith. One baptism. One God and Father. This is not a list of slogans. It is the foundation beneath all Christian fellowship. There is only one body of Christ in the earth, not many rival bodies. There is one Spirit who indwells every believer. There is one Lord — Jesus — whose Lordship makes every other allegiance secondary. "One Lord" was a dangerous confession in a world of many lords. Cities had their patron gods, the empire had its emperor, and trade guilds had their deities. For a believer to say "one Lord" meant that no other authority had the final word. That is still true. Nationality, denomination, network, personality, and preference are real, but none of them is Lord. Our October phrase is "One King. One Kingdom. Divine Order." Paul's list ends with God "above all, and through all, and in you all." He is sovereign over the body, working through the body, dwelling in the body. When believers forget this, they compete like separate kingdoms. When they remember it, they can differ in expression while standing under the same King. Alignment asks: which "one" have I quietly replaced? Have I made my stream the body? My leader the Lord? My experience the faith? Return to the seven ones. There is one King, and there is one Kingdom.

REFLECTION

Which of Paul's seven "ones" do I most easily forget when I relate to believers outside my own circle?

PRAYER

Father of all, You are above all, through all, and in us all. Forgive me for acting as though Your body were many competing bodies. Teach me to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Let me confess one Lord with my words and with my relationships. Keep my loyalty to Your Kingdom above every lesser banner. In Jesus' name, amen.

CONFESSION

"There is one body, one Spirit, one Lord. I keep the unity the Spirit has made."

PROPHETIC APPLICATION

Choose one believer or ministry you tend to view as a competitor or outsider. Pray for them by name today, asking God to bless their work. If appropriate, send a brief word of honor or encouragement.

DIGGING DEEPER

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE — The seven ones. 1. Write the seven "ones" of down the side of a page. 2. Beside each, write one way believers divide over that very thing. 3. Beside each, write one way you can keep that unity this week. 4. Memorize .
