DISCERNMENT THROUGH SPIRITUAL MATURITYKEY SCRIPTURE
LISTEN TO TODAY'S STUDY
GREEK WORD OF THE DAY
γυμνάζω
gymnazō
STRONG'S G1128
To exercise or train vigorously, as an athlete trains the body. In Hebrews 5:14 it describes the inner faculties of the believer being trained through use to discern good and evil.
BIBLICAL EXAMPLE
Solomon began with wisdom but drifted because his spiritual senses were not continually exercised (). Maturity is not a moment of anointing but a lifestyle of practice.
EXPOSITION
REFLECTION
Where in your life are you still drinking milk when God is calling you to eat solid food? What repeated act of obedience is the Holy Spirit inviting you to build a habit around this week?
PRAYER
Father, train my senses. Take me off the milk of comfort and set me at the table of maturity. Strengthen my inner man to recognize Your voice above every other voice, and to distinguish good from evil, and even good from best. In Jesus' name, amen.
CONFESSION
"I am maturing. My senses are being trained by the Word and the Spirit. I taste and see what is of God, and I refuse what is not. I walk in discernment because I walk with Him."
PROPHETIC APPLICATION
DIGGING DEEPER
1. What is the difference between knowledge and discernment? 2. What "milk" is God asking you to lay down this week? 3. Name one practice you can repeat daily that will train your spiritual senses.
