PERCEIVING THE KINGDOM — PHASE FOUR PART TWO: AWAKENING, OUTPOURING, AND KINGDOM ADVANCEMENTKEY SCRIPTURE
LISTEN TO TODAY'S STUDY
GREEK WORD OF THE DAY
ἀπόστολος
apostolos
STRONG'S G652
A sent one; an envoy commissioned with the authority and message of the sender. In the ancient world an apostolos was dispatched to establish something on behalf of the one who sent him — a colony, a settlement, an order. The word carries assignment and accountability, never celebrity. The emphasis falls on the Sender, not the sent.
BIBLICAL EXAMPLE
Paul at Ephesus (; 20:17-35) — he did not merely hold meetings; he corrected incomplete doctrine, laid foundation, taught daily for two years until "all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word," raised elders, warned them of coming danger, refused financial exploitation, and then left the work in the hands of the people he had equipped. That is apostolic function: he arrived to build and departed having sent. Compare Barnabas (; 13:1-4), who pioneered, developed Paul, and gladly became second in a work he had opened.
EXPOSITION
REFLECTION
What is the difference between building a personal platform and establishing something for the Kingdom?
PRAYER
Father, make me a builder. Deliver me from the desire to be important and give me the grace to be sent. Where You have called me to pioneer, give me courage. Where You have called me to establish, give me endurance. Where You have called me to equip, give me patience with people. Guard my doctrine, purify my motives, and keep me from using spiritual language to control anyone. Let me build according to the pattern of Heaven and not the ambitions of my own heart. Let what I establish outlive me and point to Christ, the chief cornerstone. In Jesus' name, amen.
CONFESSION
"I am not called to be important; I am called to be sent. I build what Heaven designed, and I send others into what God has given them."
PROPHETIC APPLICATION
DIGGING DEEPER
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE — Identify one area where God may be calling you to build, establish, reform, pioneer, equip, align, or send. Write the assignment in a single sentence. Then answer: 1. What formation must occur in me before this can be built well? 2. What accountability must I place around it from the beginning? 3. What preparation, study, or training does it require? 4. Who must be developed and eventually sent? 5. What in me would corrupt this work if left unaddressed?
